Hello my brothers and sisters at NJCU, OK, We need to talk about this...SERIOUSLY

For the U.S. to regain the top ranking in the world for college degree attainment, Latinos will need to earn 6.1 million more degrees by 2020.

To reach the degree attainment goal by 2020, the U.S. can: 1) close the equity gap in college completion; 2) increase the number of degrees conferred; and, 3) scale up programs and initiatives that work for Latino and other students. The following is a framework for tracking Latino degree attainment in New Jersey.

There are huge disparity issues at NJCU

In the State of New Jersey, we rank number 7 as the largest Latino population in the United States. However, when it comes to higher education, the numbers you are about to see are appalling. In a recent 2017- 2018 report by The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), we can see the disparity between Latinos/Blacks vs other Race/Ethnicity groups in NJCU.

These numbers consist of the following:

  • Undergraduate Fall Enrollment -2018
  • Graduate Enrollment Fall 2018
  • Full-time Faculty Fall 2017
  • Managerial & Professional Staff Fall 2017
  • Classified Staff Fall 2017
  • Student/ Employee Disparity overall
